Meet Your Teacher
Melody O. Moore
Melody Moore is a graduate of Meredith College (B. Mus.), UNC-Chapel Hill (M.M.), and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She is currently in her seventeenth year serving as Chorus Director and Piano Instructor at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School. In her 32 years of teaching she has taught in high schools and elementary schools, but she has found her teaching "home" in middle school. Quite often, middle school is the time when students discover new abilities, talents, and interests that they will continue to pursue as they grow older. Mrs. Moore takes great joy in leading students on their "musical journey."
Mrs. Moore is also very active in Music Education at the county and state levels. This year she is the chair of the arts department at Ligon Middle School. She is also the event host school for the East #1 District MPA Adjudication on March 14th. All of her choral groups along with groups from five surrounding counties will be participating in this event. In 2006, Mrs. Moore was named North Carolina's Middle School Choral Teacher of the Year.
When she's not at school, Mrs. Moore volunteers as a choral director at her church, Triangle Baptist, and enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to George Moore, the technology facilitator at Enloe High School. She has a son in management, Michael, a daughter-in-law, Liz, two grandsons, Riley and Owen, and a daughter, Sarah, who is the music teacher at Holly Grove Elementary.
