Meet Your Teacher
Melody O. Moore
Melody Moore is a graduate of Meredith College (B. Mus.), UNC-Chapel Hill (M.M.), and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She is currently in her eighteenth year serving as Chorus Director and Piano Instructor at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School. In her 32 years of teaching she has taught in high schools and elementary schools, but she has found her teaching "home" in middle school. Quite often, middle school is the time when students discover new abilities, talents, and interests that they will continue to pursue as they grow older. Mrs. Moore takes great joy in leading students on their "musical journey."
Mrs. Moore is very active in Music Education at the county and state levels. She has been the chair of the arts department at Ligon Middle School and the site chair of the East #1 District Middle School Choral Music Performance Adjudication. She currently serves as the site chair for Wake County's Middle School All County Chorus. Mrs. Moore was also named North Carolina's Middle School Choral Teacher of the Year in 2006.
When she's not at school, Mrs. Moore volunteers as a choral director at her church, Triangle Baptist, and enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to George Moore, the technology facilitator at Enloe High School. She has a son in management, Michael, two grandsons, Riley and Owen, and a daughter, Sarah, who is the music teacher at Fuller Elementary.
